Shyam Ravidath initiation to mridangam was with Dr Ravi Balasubramanian in Portland, Shyam did his arangetram at the age of 9 in 2018. He has been taking advanced lessons under Sangeetha Kalanidhi Dr. Thiruvarur Bakthavathsalam for over 6 years. Shyam’s widely watched video clip accompanying Sangeetha.

Kalanidhi Neyveli Santhanagopalan brought Shyam's musical brilliance to attention. Over the past 6 years, Shyam has made his mark on online platforms and Sabha through his vibrant playing. He has built a strong base of followers and every performance is keenly watched by worldwide rasikas.

Shyam has been performing in Chennai during each of the 2020-23 December music season concerts as well as the Cleveland Aradhana Festival and has over 50 concerts to his credit.
